The black and white flag was made to show support for the men and women at law enforcement and military who put their lives on the line every day to protect their people.

Out of sheer disgust I would ask: Who’s asking? And what week is it?
Black and White American flags have several meaning and the answers you get depend entirely upon who you ask.
With some, its an economic statem,ent about how so many have lost their jobs and the economy has changed for the worse.
There are certain segments of the military that use B/W flag emblems because of the color of their particular uniform.
Some would say that its to show solidarity with the police across the country. But they’d be wrong, as its supposed to have a thin blue line down the middle. Which brings me to the point:
When there were one or two different colored flags in order to make a statement, that was all and good. But now – there are so many, and for so many obscure reasons that you have to google it, that it leaves you dizzy.
It has entirely gotten out of hand. And as sympathetic as I am to everyone to who has troubles, and we all do, I for one am ready to go back to the Ol’ Red, White, and Blue.

First off, it is not the American Flag. It is a representation of the US Flag. The US/American Flag has 7 red stripes with 6 white stripes separating them. In the upper most left corner there is a field of blue that has 50 white 5 pointed stars standing on their legs. These stars are all equidistant apart.
Now, the representation that you are talking about has one of the black stripes, the exact middle one, colored in a dark blue. That blue stripe represents the thin blue line.
The thin blue line does not mean what a lot of people think. When the thin blue line was brought into existence it originally meant the line between being a law enforcer and a law violater. It was a self referencing warning. As time has gone on it has morphed into something different.
When you see that flag or any other symbol that has the blue line against a black background that person or organization is showing their support for law enforcement. They may have family or good friends who are in LE.

Friends, They may provide goods or actual support to LE. They just want to show everyone their support.
The black and white U.S. Flag is essentially use of the flag to an alternate purpose, which is forbidden. What it is would actually be “advertising” your sorrow, drawing attention to your corps and its loss(es).

The flags are supposed to honor fallen individuals of various military and civil service jobs. My question is, how does designating your version of the flag as one which explicitly honors fallen members of your corps, honor this country, let alone the fallen members of the other corps.
To me, this is taking things to far. If you want something to express your loss, to draw attention to that loss, and yourself, pick something else to adulterate. Better yet, how about creating something altogether new.
In any case, leave the flag alone. Just think of the power in that effort of creation, LGBTQ+ have the Rainbow Flag, a powerful image, which instantly rallies the community or its individuals.
Thin Blue Line Flag
There are as many meanings as you want : some find it unpatrotic and disrespectful and others might find it a gloomy connotation.
- In current times the black and white American flag is taken as a symbol for the economic recession that the country is going through as well as a symbol of freedom of expression.
- It can as well be interpreted as a representation of the past, present, and future of all the Black Americans living in America.

The Blue represents police officers and the courage they find deep inside when faced with insurmountable odds. The Black background was designed as a constant reminder of their fallen brother and sister officers.
The Line is what police officers protect, the barrier between anarchy and civilized society, between order and chaos, between respect for decency and lawlessness. Together they symbolize the camaraderie law enforcement officers all share, a brotherhood like none other.

It is missing colors to represent what corrupt politicians and corporations have drained our once-great nation. The red is removed to represent those lives that have been lost in vain.
The blue is gone to represent blue-collar middle-class workers. The middle class is dissolving before our eyes. Questions?
If you are talking about a black and white flag with one blue stripe under the canton, that is a flag used to signify that Blue Lives Matter.
That is an organization that advocates for individuals convicted of killing law enforcement officers being charged and sentenced under hate crime statutes.

It was formed a year after the Trayvon Martin case became a national cause celebre. The black activists formed an organization called Black Lives Matter, accusing the (to them) white law enforcement community of allowing Caucasians to murder African-Americans with impunity.
The law enforcement community reacted to that organization by forming Blue Lives Matter, to counter the attempt by the activists to paint the police as the bad guys in any confrontation.
If you see a similar flag flown outside a firehouse but with a red stripe instead of a blue one, you’re seeing a Thin Red Line flag.
Friends, It is flown as a token of respect for firefighters and EMTs injured or killed in the line of duty.
