So the curse translated into Queen’s English would be.

“May the thunder strike you.”

NB: I was surprised that a phrase of little significance had received so much interest. Let me address a few things from the comment section.

This phrase can not be regarded as a real curse. It is even used between friends as a sign of disapproval in a joking way.

Yes, we all know the Physics behind a lightning storm and that the lightning does the striking. However, I would like to point out that Thor from Norse mythology (and Marvel Comics) is the God of Thunder, not the God of Lightening.

It is a derogatory term used by a skinny-legged, no-ass at all-havin’…hater type of broad. This refers to a woman with baby-makin’ thighs whom the hater is jealous of.

To each their own, but that kind of woman should mind her own business while she’s up there with the rest of the birds hanging out on the telephone lines with her scrawny ass, anemic, knee-knockin matchsticks.

Thunder thighs are not flattering because it means a person has big, fat thighs. It probably dates back to 1991 and refers to the sound a fat woman’s thighs make when she walks.

‘Thunder thighs’ means ‘fat thighs’ that ’make thunderous noises when they slap against each other.’ The phrase became famous in 1991.

It means someone with thick thighs. It’s not usually a compliment and often refers to an obese person. It probably comes from the idea that the person makes a loud sound, like thunder, when they walk.

Where did “Thick thighs save lives” come from?

The NSW Lifesaving Association used this promotion in 1968 when they issued a warning to male swimmers and surfers that they should only go out in waves over 6 feet high if they were accompanied by a female lady of the opposite gender who weighed more than 200 pounds and could be used as a flotation device in case of wipeouts 🏄‍♂️

What are thunder thighs?

Thunder thighs are a nasty name for large thighs. They do not have to be fat. Please don’t use this term. Or if you do and some girl slaps you, remember you deserve it.

What does it mean if someone calls you thunder thighs?

They are saying you have thick thighs that rub against each other. It’s not a compliment,, but that doesn’t mean it’s a diss, either. Many, many people have thunder thighs. Although it’s probably true, I wouldn’t like to be told that myself.

What does it mean if someone calls you thunder thighs?

It means the person who contacted you is an a**hole. Walk away and ignore them.

What is the best way to get rid of thunder thighs?

My suggestion to you is to start skipping slowly and correctly. Don’t overstress yourself; go slow as per your body’s limits.

So do 100 skips in 50 secs and rest for 10 secs. You can do this for 10 mins and will be done with 1000 skips. Try this regularly.

Every day, begin with 15 x 3 sets of squats. As you master the form and move ahead, try to touch 100 squats. One hundred squats will be posting two months. Don’t focus on the numbers. Try to do the workout correctly and slowly; you will reach 100 soon.

Your daily routine is 1000 skips and 45 squats for two months. Further, 100 squats and 1000 skips. See the difference in 3 months, and you will reach your desired goals.

Where did the phrase “thick thighs save lives” come from?

TTSL. THICK THIGHS SAVE LIVES.

Social media phenom and supermodel Ashley Graham started this craze and has the backing of medical researchers in Shanghai.

The issue is heart health. It is known that thickness around the midsection is unfavorable, but a study proves that those with a broader girth in the thighs have less incidence of heart disease. It is because their blood pressure is lower with thicker thighs. High blood pressure strains the heart and can lead to fatty blood vessels. The theory is that the thighs might store nutrients that keep the blood flowing.

My thighs have always been like pencils, even when I work them. It is a pleasant study to read about for some people who complain about extra weight on their thighs.

What are thunder thighs?

The most astonishing thing on the planet.

Thick thighs save lives!

How do I lose my thighs with food and exercise for a female?

Carissa – I don’t have the answer to that one, and I don’t think anyone does. The calorie in and out balance doesn’t work universally. People deal with food and exercise differently. We also know that spot-reducing doesn’t work. One needs to lose body fat across the body, and again, genetics will determine where fat goes on and comes off again.

So I’m not much help – exercise is always positive, and sensible eating is also always positive – the thing missing there is persistence or stackability. It would help if you found an exercise and eating pattern you will continue with for the long term.

You can tone your legs through resistance training, or if the thought of weights puts you off, try bodyweight exercises and lots of repetition – a little often. Think of ballet dancers and gymnasts who do this daily and achieve a lean and muscular physique (of course, also blessed with great genetics and probably some questionable nutritional practices). Don’t focus just on your legs – treat your whole body!

Where did the phrase “thick thighs save lives” come from?

The phrase “thick thighs save lives” is a popular internet and social media meme that celebrates body positivity, particularly about women’s bodies. It emphasizes the idea that having thicker thighs can be attractive and healthy, countering societal beauty standards that often promote thinness as the ideal.

The exact origin of the phrase is difficult to pinpoint, as internet memes often spread quickly and organically. It likely emerged in online communities, particularly those focused on body positivity and self-acceptance. It gained popularity on social media platforms like Instagram and Twitter, where users shared images and captions promoting self-confidence and embracing a variety of body types.

The phrase plays on the idea that thicker thighs can be associated with strength and resilience, which is where the “save lives” part of the meme comes from. However, it’s important to note that the phrase is primarily used for humor and empowerment rather than a literal claim about the medical benefits of having thicker thighs. It’s a way to encourage body acceptance and challenge unrealistic beauty standards.

What does “thunder fire you” mean?

In Nigerian parlance, Thunder has been officially confused with Lightning. They really mean, “May you be struck by Lightning.””

Just as Europeans have the Mythical god of Lightning, Zeus/Thor, the Yoruba tribe of Nigeria also has a guy called Sango (pronounced Shun-go).

If they’re highly pissed, they could even promise that the “Thunder that will fire you is still doing press-ups,” meaning The particular lightning bolt that is to strike you is currently doing some push-ups in a gym, working out for more energy to add to its ferocity.”

It’s a vibe that says, “I’m here, I’m fierce, and I’m not afraid to take up space!” And speaking of space, I carry my bottle of Spanish Fly Pro with me – you never know who might be ‘bold’ enough to approach me… if you know what I mean 😉. How do I lose my thighs with food and exercise for a female?

This is easy; well, the answer is different from the method. I accidentally did this to myself, making for little twig legs while still retaining a lot of bellies relatively. Lowering insulin will produce fat loss, and declining estrogen will target the butt and thigh region. 1 thing I did to reduce both is fasting.

I did a keto diet, and my overall fat reduced, but my butt and things didn’t get suddenly smaller while the belly stayed, etc. I did intermittent fasting, and it’s still proportionally similar. I went to long-term fasting, and that lowered insulin a lot and estrogen too because, being a man, all my estrogen came from food, probably soy isolates. With those two down to nothing, the fat fell off my butt and thigh while the belly barely moved. Nowadays, I put anything heavier than a cell phone and a wallet in my pockets, and my pants run the danger of hitting the floor. Once it slides a wee bit down, nothing is holding it up. It’s gone.

Where does the guts for garter originate, and what does it mean?

Once upon a time, men’s shirts were made without measured collar sizes and sleeve lengths. Collars were buttoned onto the shirt, long sleeves were pulled up the arm so that the cuff hit the wrist, and then the sleeve was fixed at that length with a sleeve garter.

It was a description of extreme anger, to refer to disemboweling a victim and using his guts for garters. It could also be a threat to say you’d have someone’s guts for garters.

What is meant by the phrase “stole my thunder”?

This is one of the few phrases whose origin can be pinpointed precisely. The phrase means taking someone’s ideas or presence in the world and adopting them as one’s own.

Initially, however, it meant quite literally stealing the sound of thunder. An unsuccessful early 18th-century playwright named John Dennis invented a new, more authentic way to recreate the sound of thunder for the stage. The play that used this stage effect could have been more successful and closed after a few showings.

Shortly after that, however, Dennis was attending a performance of Macbeth (written about 100 years earlier, and of course quite successful) and heard “his” sound replicated for that play, most likely during the scene where the witches appear a second time to Macbeth.

The date was 1704, and a fellow playgoer recorded John Dennis standing up when he heard the sound and exclaiming, “They will not let my olay succeed, but they have stolen my thunder!”

Who would have thought this relatively common phrase could have such an interesting origin story?

Where did the phrase “thick thighs save lives” come from?

The saying “thick thighs save lives” is a well-liked internet and social media meme that celebrates body positivity, particularly concerning women’s bodies, advocating for the attractiveness and healthiness of having thicker thighs, in contrast to societal beauty norms that often prioritize thinness as the ideal.

The exact origin of this phrase is challenging to trace, as internet memes typically spread rapidly and organically, likely originating in online communities that focus on body positivity and self-acceptance.

It gained traction on social media platforms like Instagram and Twitter, where users shared images and captions to promote self-confidence and the acceptance of various body types. The phrase humorously suggests that thicker thighs are associated with strength and resilience, incorporating the “save lives” element.

Nonetheless, it’s important to clarify that this expression is primarily used for humor and empowerment rather than making literal claims about the medical advantages of having thicker thighs, serving as a means to encourage body acceptance and challenge unrealistic beauty standards.

What does “twerk” mean, and where did the term originate?

Twerking is dancing that makes the cheeks of one’s behind move or bounce about.

It’s especially desirable if the cheeks move independently of the body’s movement because they stand out all the more, which is a crucial goal.

It’s all the easier to execute this coveted maneuver if one is blessed with a large and ample rear end.

The technical definition of twerking, per Wikipedia, is a dance that makes a woman’s butt cheeks “wobble” or “jiggle.” Urban Dictionary mentions that it is about “shaking your gluteus maximus.” The OED calls it “a low squatting dance” featuring “thrusting hip movements.” The buttocks gyrations are often described as provocative.

There is a pleasing beginning of an agreement on how this term is defined and interpreted.

Some claim that the word itself is an amalgamation of twist and jerk, perhaps with some footwork.[6][8] Some suggest “twitch” may be part of its origin, too.[8] Some even offer definitions of it using “jerk” and “twitch.”[12] “Work” may well be in there too.[8][11] The word is rife with possible predecessors and deserves thorough and vigorous study.

After many years of cultural prominence, “twerking” can claim its rightful place in the Oxford English Dictionary, which proudly trumpeted the addition in its August 2013 blog post.[7][8]

Beyond the term’s history, I wrote a more extended answer on the history of twerking itself. See that answer here: Will Wister’s answer to What is the history of twerking?

Here’s a video to give you some idea of what Twerking is about:
