Why is a credit card better than a debit card?
Credit cards are better since they offer better purchase protection.
This is an incident from a few years after I left AmEx. I was in Gurgaon when I was looking to purchase an air conditioner. I inquired at Just Dial and received many calls from shopkeepers in the area. Surprisingly, one seller called me from Delhi – offering me an ETA General for Rs. 4,500 cheaper than anywhere in Gurgaon. I should have been alarmed, but I traveled and bought the AC from Delhi – transporting it in my car. The ordeal had just begun,
The installation guy took forever, and when he came in, he was untrained to the point that he made 2 holes in the wall when there was already an outlet for the pipe. The installation was botched up, took 5 hours, and the AC stopped cooling 3 days after he left. I called the company, and they sent someone to look at it.
The professional came in and confirmed that I had been duped. The AC was imported illegally, the seller was not an authorized dealer, and the AC was not a 1.5-ton machine but a 1 machine. The untrained installation worker came from a different company and was a shop owner’s request.
I called the shopkeeper and asked him to take the AC back. He laughed in my face and said, “Payment ho gayi hai sir, ab jo kar sakte ho Karlo.” I was not fuming since I knew I had paid using an AmEx card. I just calmly told him, “Ye galat kar diya aapne.” “Agla phone aap hi karoge.”
I made a complaint to AmEx and sent a documented complaint to ETA General. AmEx suspended the charge immediately and concluded the investigation within 30 days. I got a refund for the whole amount.
Meanwhile, ETA General responded by saying they are taking legal action against the shopkeeper for tarnishing their image (refer to point 5 in the letter).
I was right, and I was determined. It paid off.
I now had the AC and my money. The shopkeeper came down, apologized, collected the AC, paid for my wall repair, paid an extra 5k for the inconvenience, and left. It was a harrowing experience, but I had the last laugh.
That’s the power of having the blue box by your side 🙂

You can do ecommerce after that; There is no waiting period for registration.
- Message (in capital letters)-

Can I request a replacement Chase debit or Chase Freedom credit card online?
I don’t know about Chase Freedom or debit cards specifically, but recently I needed to request a replacement United Club Visa from Chase because I was taking an international trip and wanted a card with a chip in it. I made my request online through the secure messaging function of the Chase website. The next day I received a response indicating that my new card would arrive in less than a week, and it did.
What’s debit card hotlisting?
In simple terms, if your debit card is lost, misplaced, stolen, etc., and you report it to the debit card issuing bank, they will hotlist it, and it won’t be usable at any location, whether online or offline.
Not only this, but if the bank finds out that the card has been used for fraudulent transactions, the bank may temporarily hotlist your card. It may or may not be reactivated after your input.
Hotlisting could also be termed the blocking of cards.
I hope it helps.

How to Find Your Debit Card Number Online
Depending on your bank, you can find your debit card number online, but if not, you may want to contact your bank for additional help.
For Huntington Bank account holders, here’s how to find your debit card number on your e-statements.
- Log in to Huntington Online Banking.
- Click on Service Center.
- Click on View Statements.
- Select the checking account.
- Select your most recent statement period.
- Go to the Debit Card/Point-of-Sale (POS) section of the e-statement.
- Locate the debit card number at the end of the transaction line.
If you’ve saved your account information with online merchants, you cannot see your full debit card number. This information is masked due to PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards) regulations.
If you want to avoid forgetting it in the future, create a pin that means something to you. Don’t use something obvious like the year you were born to avoid someone guessing it, but make a personal connection with it.
You can have it represent a word or idea — like 1439 could mean “I love you a lot”, because there are 1, 4, and 3 letters in me, love, and you, respectively, and 9 could mean a lot. Or you could combine a couple of numbers, such as the two-digit year you were born with the two-digit year someone else was born.
The principles behind remembering it are:
- Put some effort into creating it
- Make it personally relevant
- Be able to recreate it by thinking of the underlying meaning you gave it
Or you could just follow the advice on resetting it at a branch of your bank…
You need to activate your credit or debit card as soon as possible. In case if you do not activate within 2 months then the bank assumes your card is lost and permanently blocks it.
Hope it will help you.
